The process

Made off site. Fitted on site.

The making happens in our workshop while your room keeps working. The on-site window is agreed around your calendar: term breaks, dark weeks, the gaps between seasons.

  1. 01

    Consult

We look at the room, how it is used now and what it needs to become.

  2. 02

    Design and coordinate

Layouts are settled before anything is cut, and coordinated with the builder, AV and lighting trades.

  3. 03

    Make

Drapes are cut and sewn. Track and hardware are pre-assembled and checked.

  1. 04

    Install

Our installers fix the track, hang and dress the drapes, and prove the operation, manual or motorised.

  2. 05

    Hand over

We walk you through the finished system before we leave.

Our work

Stages, studios and rooms that are not stages

Questions

Installations, answered

Do you make the drapes you install?

Yes. The drapes are cut and sewn in our Melbourne workshop, and the people who fit them work alongside the people who made them. One team is accountable from measure to make to fit.

How long will the room be out of action?

Only for the on-site work. Drapes are sewn and track is pre-assembled in the workshop while the venue keeps running, and the on-site window is agreed around your calendar.

Can you install track in a space that is not a theatre?

Yes. Halls, film and photography studios, galleries, classrooms, offices and event spaces take the same systems as stages: masking, dividers, backdrops and blackout runs.

Manual or motorised: how do we choose?

We recommend after seeing the space. The drape's weight and drop, who operates it and how often it moves decide it, and both run through the same design, make and fit process.

Do you install hoists and fly systems too?

Those are engineered by Theatre Safe Australia, our parent company. We work alongside their team, so the drapes and the system above them are planned together.
