Before you specify
Questions buyers ask us.
Can you make drapes to custom sizes?
Yes. Most of what we make is made to measure: drop, width and fullness are cut to your stage. Send the sizes and finish you need and we confirm the make.
Which fabric should we choose for masking, house curtains or a cyc?
Wool serge for masking, velvet or velour for house curtains, filled cloth or PolyCyc for cycloramas. The Fabric Library lists GSM, width and fire class for every cloth.
Do drapes come with fire paperwork?
Every cloth lists its fire rating. Treated drapes are flame retarded to AS 1530 standards and come with a treatment certificate stating the treatment was applied by a trained and competent technician. See fire treatment.
Can we hire drapes instead of buying?
Yes. Black masking, scrims, cycloramas and portable drape hardware are held as hire stock, and sharkstooth scrim is the most requested. See Rentals and Hire for your dates.
Will new drapes work with our existing track and rigging?
Yes. We sew headings to suit what you run: ties, eyelets, rufflette or our Option D velcro and D-ring finish. Tracks, motors and fly systems are engineered by Theatre Safe Australia.
